Solar Subsidy Amounts & Eligibility

The amount of subsidy you receive depends on the size of the solar system you install. Here’s a breakdown of the subsidy structure:

• Up to 2kW: ₹30,000 per kW

• 3kW System: ₹78,000 subsidy

• More than 3kW: A fixed subsidy of ₹78,000

The subsidy amount is determined based on the lower capacity between the solar modules and the inverter. Additionally, some state governments provide extra financial assistance on top of the central subsidy.

How to Apply for Solar Subsidy in India

To streamline the process, the government has launched the National Portal for Rooftop Solar, where homeowners can easily apply, track their application, and receive subsidy funds directly into their bank accounts.

Eligibility & Registration: The project must be registered on the portal, use domestically manufactured solar panels, and comply with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) guidelines. The feasibility of the installation is reviewed within 15 days of application submission.

Installation & Approval: Once approved, the solar system is installed by an authorized vendor. After obtaining net metering approval and passing an inspection, a commissioning certificate is issued.

Subsidy Disbursement: After all the necessary approvals, the subsidy amount is transferred to the homeowner’s bank account within 30 days.
